Location:
The Republic of Bulgaria is situated in south-east Europe, in the north-east part of the Balkan Peninsula. The River Danube forms to the North the border between Bulgaria and Romania, to the East the country borders on the Black Sea, to the West - on the Serbia and Macedonia and to the South on Greece and Turkey.
Situated on crossroads, Bulgaria is also known for its picturesque nature. In spite of the small territory, the country has verious landscape, rich flora and fauna, a lot of curative mineral springs. The beautiful scenery changes from vast plains to hilly areas and high mountains. Large beaches and beautiful rocky shores strech out along the Black sea coast.
Climate:
The climate is temperate continental, influenced by the Black sea to the East and by the Mediterranean to the South. There are four lovely seasons in Bulgaria – beautiful blooming spring, dry and hot summer, long and pleasant autumn and mild winter with snowfalls, offering splendid opportunities for skiing.
The climate in the regions with an altitude of 1900-2000 m above the sea level is mountainous and along the Black Sea coast it is milder in the winter and cooler in the summer, than the other parts of the country. The average annual temperature is 10,5°C, average January temperature is -2/2°C and in July 25-30°C.
The climate is exceptionally favorable for growing vines, fruits, vegetables and oil yielding rose for which Bulgaria has been renowned in Europe for centuries. |
